Repairing old bag

No that's not a description of me!! I have an old shopping bag which I am very fond of and I've used it for years. Its in great condition and the zips still work well, but the lining has ripped right across the width of one side of it. I'm useless at fixing and mending but I wondered is there a product I could buy to stick it together, something like a strip of sticky tape kind of thing? Any advice would be appreciated.

torn lining

TickTock, you can get iron-on tape for holding up hems. Maybe you could get a piece of fabric the length of the tear and the width of the iron-on tape, and iron/glue it across the rip? Hold the 3 layers together with safety pins while you iron it. They sometimes have it at the end of aisles in supermarkets (if you're not near a fabric shop). Mandolin

Oooh I know the stuff you mean, why didn't I think of that! Might be a bit awkward to iron but will give it a go. Thanks a lot Mandolin.

Hi felix1. Many thanks for the offer but I don't think its worth sending it down to you in Athlone. I'll give that sticky strip stuff a go myself. You know how you get attached to some stuff!

Hi Tick Tock,

I've went to college for this sort of thing, I'll also fix it for you if you'd like :) My other half is from Tallaght so could pick it up next time I'm up :)
