Tiled Flowerbed

This was a project from last year (only took after photos today but it looks much better in spring with some more plants in it.) Built the wall, then tiled and grouted it, last summer we planted rocket, parsley, rosemary, bayleaf and everything grew like mad.
(Edit 8/6/2011 just changed the photos as I don't think the original ones did it justice!)

Thanks Chris, can you tell there are not 1 but 2 tilers in my family so we always have leftover tiles/grout, so my little projects are practically cost free!! All the best (as always) x

Now I'm beetroot red and dead chuffed!!!! Thank you to everyone for all the compliments. I posted this to give people an idea of what could be done with very little materials or skill, and with the wood on top, it acts as extra seating for the mad family bbq's (okay so we've only had one so far but that's irish weather for you!!!) Fingers crossed for this summer , best wishes x

Lovely! What a great idea!!!! Well done.

eco chick 12-03-2009 12:15 PM

what did you use to hold the tiles on?

shonastar 13-03-2009 11:25 PM

The tiles are stuck on with tile adhesive and then grouted, bags of both tile adhesive and grout can be bought in most diy shops, hope this helps, regards, Shonastar
PS you can get grout in a various colours which can either blend in or highlight the gaps between the tiles.
