Used tomato bag compost
Hi
Any ideas how I might recycle this? Got a good crop of tomatoes from 5 bags. I presume the soil is now spent. Just wondering if I could recompost the contents of the 3 bags or would I throw the soil in a ditch in one of the fields. Any ideas? Thanks julfren |

I would add this to my compost heap as it's 'spent', ie most of the goodness has gone. It would be a shame to waste it though. It'll be full of useful microrganisms that'll do wonders for your home made compost.
I often use the stuff my toms have been in (in the polytunnel) to top up my raised beds. If you do similar, just remember toms & spuds are in the same plant family and both therefore suffer the same diseases, so don't put it on land where you are going to grow spuds next season. MW |
