Withdrawing/Deleting an Ad

If I have created an ad for an item I am offering, but then later change my mind or the item is no longer available, what's the correct procedure for withdrawing the ad? Do I simply delete the ad thread, or change the status to Taken?

An example is, I was offering some empty DVD cases but nobody has expressed any interest in them. I can't keep the cases indefinitely so I've decided to recycle them instead. So what do I do with my ad? No requests or comments have been made on my ad.

As you've rightly guessed, if you wish to withdraw an item or remove an ad, you can simply delete it or mark it as Taken.
